A fold apart is a cute and colourful puzzle game with a narrative revolving around a couple having a long distance relationship and the struggles that come from such and not communicating their issues with each other whilst getting triggered on the differences and problems in their relationship which leads into the puzzle gameplay elements where you quite literally twist turn and fold the levels in order to make your way to the exit of the levels.
The gameplay is fairly simple whilst providing some interesting mechanics, where you can fold and refold or turn and twist the level aspects in order to make your path towards the exit, or drop elements to help you out on your quest such as boxes or fold over elements standing in your way of reaching your goal, all while gravity maintains in ways you expect.
I really liked the connect and enjoyed the narrative that came along with the gameplay and whilst it’s a fairly simple and straightforward concept it’s really well made, and even though it took me 2.5 hours to get through the 6 chapters of the game I had a lot of fun throughout the entire game and definitely recommend playing through for yourself to anyone thinking of getting it in order to get the full experience, and while you might have to think about your path in order to build your way towards the exit using all the elements in front of you it’s not unachievable and introduces new aspects to change the levels up on each chapter all while unveiling the story before you.
Though I would have expected this to continue forwards with a narrative and levels involving both characters this does leave room for a sequel as the characters inevitably work on their relationship issues and come together and learn to compromise and resolve their differences, either way it’s a fun and entertaining game with a cute style and an interesting narrative worth playing through for yourself.
