Glitchspankr is a first person find the object game with toilet humour, quite literally a funny toilet based plot, with comedic decisions matter based narrative thrown in for good measure and while you might think this might be a fairly simplistic concept to search the level to find which object is the glitch the game has a clever way of twisting the concept on it’s head in very creative ways every opportunity it can.
From the beginning you are thrown into a world attempting to play big booty slapper 69 a lewd game that you were not able to play only to discover that a virus has eaten the game you intended to play, this virus is in fact what you are hunting in each level as it takes the form of regular household objects, being a sentient virus of course it does communicate with you and tease you along the way switching up the gameplay and giving you the opportunity to make decisions which will ultimately decide the path the story takes.
Your moral compass decisions will influence the world and the path through the game leading to multiple endings all of which of course are required to be travelled in order to fully complete the game, and while the game does offer many opportunities to make decisions such as befriending the glitch or being it’s enemy and all decisions between the game does have to hold back from giving you true freedom of decisions because if every single possibility branched into new levels the game would be infinite and never end so some constraint decisions had to be made with major influencing decisions branching out into paths to explore.
Again the game will continue to twist the concept in many unexpected ways beyond simply find and smack the object and this will too branch into other minigames such as easter eggs and nods to other game types all seamlessly integrated into the mix to make this a truly unique experience.
The unexpected turns don’t stop there as the game is also crammed full of secrets that will literally call out to you to be discovered, including secret levels which are intentionally off the beaten path and made into a plot point to be out of the game code where you can discover more secrets into the depths of lost and discarded code where the true secrets to the lore lie.
So while you might expect this to be a very simple game of find the hidden object it turns out to be something far more ambitious where every level is unique with it’s own objectives and twists on the concept alongside a humorous dialogue from the glitch you are searching for within these levels.
The only real way to get a feel for the game is to experience it yourself as the storyline is something that is best experienced for yourself just to see how truly unique an experience this is ever evolving concepts over 8+ branching path’s each leading to a final showdown experience throwing boss battles into the mix.
It took around 14 hours to complete all the levels to one ending with many secrets and experiences still to discover alongside the promise of extra content, lore, levels and more after hitting 200 reviews on steam so there is plenty to explore while going on this wild journey.
